Taiwan: Jolin Tsai teaches you how to slim down

Taiwan: Makiyo

English: Artist uses 'Draw Something' to animate John Mayer music video

"Draw Something" had been used by millions to play a game, but design studio head Jimmy Thompson had a different idea -- A series of "Draw" sketches into an animated video for John Mayer's "Queen of California." which Mayer approves.
The video features some simple and some intricate drawings that help illustrate the song, and it's visually addicting.
"There is something really charming about the medium -- the strokes -- and I love the anticipation when you watch someone’s drawing being revealed," Thompson, founder of Brainbowinc, told Mashable. "I thought ("Draw Something" would) be a good match for a song with a lot of nouns."
As Mashable noted, Brainbowinc has worked with Mayer's label Columbia Records before, but they weren't involved in his creating the video. Nor is Mayer the first artist to get the "Draw Something" treatment -- singer/songwriter Isaac Simons asked fans to contribute artwork from the game for his "Call to Arms" video in March.

English: bad things about twitter - trending break-ups

While surfing the net, i came upon this news about one direction 's fans asking one of the member to break up with his current girlfriend and reunite with his ex-girlfriend. The member is Louis Tomlinson who know about this twitter campaign and told the news channel that he was very upset about it. I find that it 's totally silly for fans to do so as if they like them, they should respect whatever they do and whoever they want to be with. they should give them enough privacy too.

Taiwan: S.H.E reunion

They weren’t the biggest winners of the night.

But Taiwanese girl group S.H.E provided the most anticipated and touching moment at the 23rd Golden Melody Awards ceremony on Saturday night, after breaking up for 555days.

But it was the sight of Hebe Tien, 29, Selina Jen, 30 and Ella Chen, 31, of S.H.E together on stage that sent the audience into a shrieking frenzy.

This was the trio’s first performance as a group since Selina suffered severe burns on an on-set explosion in October 2010.

Taiwan: Tanya Chua wins top music award for 3rd time

Singaporean singer-songwriter Tanya Chua bagged the prestigious best female singer award at the 23rd Golden Melody Awards in Taipei on Saturday night, her third award in this category in six years.

Chua, 37, saw off strong contenders Hebe Tien, A-Mei and fellow Singaporean Stefanie Sun to pick up the prize at what is seen as the Chinese equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
Her third win in this category means Chua has equalled the record of accomplished Taiwanese singers Sarah Chen and Stella Chang, who each also has three to their name

Chua, who first won the award in 2006 and then again in 2008, said: 'I feel like I am dreaming, I didn't expect to win this award again.'

This year, her album Speak Of Love led the field with seven nominations, although she did not clinch any of the other awards.

The Taiwan-based singer will be performing at The Straits Times Appreciates Readers (Star) concert on July 15 at the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.

Taiwan's most popular rock band Mayday, the biggest winner last night, carried home six awards, including the coveted Best Song of the Year, Best Mandarin Album and Best Band.

'I want to thank our fans who have supported us for the past 13 years and I want to thank the judges,' Mayday lead singer Ashin told a cheering crowd in the Taipei Arena.

Taiwanese rocker Luantan Ascent was the night's surprise winner when he beat four better-known rivals - including Hong Kong's Eason Chan and last year's winner, Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou - to be crowned best male singer.

'I actually thought I'd lose. I want to thank Jay Chou... I want to thank the judges and my family,' he said.

Performers from Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore competed in more than 40 categories

Taiwan: Judges pleased with Golden Melody results

The 23rd Annual Golden Melody Awards ended on a beautiful and satisfying note on Saturday night(23 June). The judging panel was extremely pleased with the outcome of the awards, stating that most of the votes were unanimous. The judges all agreed the Best Mandarin Female singer and Best Mandarin Male singer were rightfully awarded to Tanya Chua (蔡健雅) and Luantan Ascent (亂彈阿翔), adding that the votes between first and second place in each category were fairly wide.

Tanya's achievements were especially acknowledged for recording the album live with the band in the studio, proving her singing ability worthy of the award. The excitement from male singer Luantan Ascent was quickly dampened as he accidentally dropped his awards backstage right after the ceremony, breaking them into pieces. When asked about his comments, he replied, “I'm so hungry. I want to have a delicious meal.”

The ceremony kicked off with Hong Kong singer Karen Mok performing 4 songs ranging from the 30s to the 90s in a jewel-studded black Chinese dress. Her eight-minute performance awed the audience as she showed off her body with different outfits. Moi's low, sexy voice kept the audiences enthralled as she sang classic Mandarin songs as a tribute to the divas of each era.

Among the highlights of the ceremony was the stage reunion of long-missed girl band S.H.E after member Selina Jen was injured in a fire accident during a shooting for a TV show in 2010. They performed songs from their album “SHERO.”

The ceremony also took time to pay tribute to legendary singer Fong Fei-fei. She was a pop diva from the 70s who had a signature look of wearing different hats, earning the nickname “Queen of Hats.” Her legend was remembered by pop singers, such as Ricky Hsiao (蕭煌奇) and Sandy Lam (林憶蓮), who re-sang her famous songs on stage, such as “Fly with you” and “Lovely Baby.” Then the audience enjoyed a 3D performance of the legendary diva wearing a white suit and hat performing her hit song, “Cloud of Romance.”

Taiwanese rock band Mayday (五月天) nabbed six major awards. They won the Best Mandarin Album, Best Band, Best Album Producer, Best Music Arranger, Best Composer, and Best Song of the Year with their eighth album “Second Round,” released in 2011 after a three-year wait.

In the competitive Best Mandarin Female Singer category, Singaporean singer and songwriter Tanya Chua (蔡健雅) beat strong contenders Hebe Tien (田馥甄), Amei (張惠妹), Stefanie Sun (孫燕姿), A-lin, and Waa Wei (魏如萱) to win the title with her performance on the album “Speaking of Love (說到愛).”

Meanwhile, the Best Mandarin Male Singer went to singer and songwriter Luantan Ascent (亂彈阿翔), who beat Yoga Lin (林宥嘉), Jay Chou (周杰倫), Eason Chan (陳奕迅) and Jam Hsiao (蕭敬騰).

Other winners included Best Lyricist Wu Hsiung (武雄), Best Taiwanese Male Singer Huang Shan-liang (荒山亮), Best Taiwanese Female Singer Jeannie Hsieh (謝金燕), and Best New Artist Llid Kaolo (以莉.高露).

The Lifetime Contribution Award went to 84-year-old Taiwanese singer Wen Hsia (文夏), who has sung many Taiwanese-language hits translated from Japanese songs
